SACRAMENTO – Freshman Assemblywoman Suzette Martinez Valladares has been appointed as Vice Chair of the Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism, and Internet Media Assembly Committee which regulates the entertainment industry. This is Valladares’ first committee assignment. “I’m honored to receive this appointment as Vice-Chair of the Committee that is so vital to the economic stability and well-being of the Santa Clarita area and our workers,” Valladares said. Six Flags Magic Mountain, the 262-acre theme park, is located inside Valladares’ district in the Valencia neighborhood of Santa Clarita, and holds special significance to the newly-elected Assemblywoman. “Six Flags was my first job out of high school and I spent 8 years there learning almost every aspect of the park,” Valladares said. Six Flags Magic Mountain employs approximately 48,000 people and has been shuttered since March 12. “The mandated closing of Six Flags in my district has had a tremendous impact on our local economy and community,” Valladares said. “We need to do everything we can to support our workers and small businesses.” |
