Combatting Fentanyl

Fentanyl is a devastating factor in 20% of youth deaths in California. I will champion Proposition 36, which is backed by local sheriff’s deputies and law enforcement leaders. This proposition will hold fentanyl drug dealers accountable and reform our current inadequate criminal laws.

Strengthening Penalties for Violent Criminals

I will sponsor legislation to eliminate early release for all violent offenders, including those convicted of attempted murder, grand theft, child molestation, and drive-by shootings. This effort will also extend to crimes such as domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, and drug trafficking.

Promoting Effective Crime Prevention

I will author legislation to advance the following priorities:

  • Enhancing Reporting: Improve the reporting and tracking of retail and personal property theft.
  • Boosting Law Enforcement Effectiveness: Increase the ratio of felony arrests and prosecutions.
  • Breaking the Cycle: Implement strategies to disrupt the cycle of repeat offenders.
  • Mandatory Diversion Programs: Enforce mandatory diversion programs for those struggling with addiction.
  • Ending Early Release: Ensure the discontinuation of early release for felons.
