Two years ago, something unusual happened in the 38th Assembly District.
When then-Assemblymember Christy Smith running for Congress, Democrats failed to rally around a single candidate, resulting in two Republicans facing off in November 2020 to represent the district. It was in that context Suzette Martinez Valladares was elected to the state Assembly in 2020.
In the two years since, she has proven herself to be someone interested in working across the aisle to solve the many problems of the state. Now running in the redrawn 40th Assembly District, Suzette Martinez Valladares should be re-elected.
