(Santa Clarita) – Suzette Martinez Valladares, running for re-election to the California State Assembly in the newly drawn 40th Assembly District, today announced that SMART Sheet Metal Workers Local 105 endorsed her campaign.
This latest endorsement adds to the growing support of local leaders for Valladares’ campaign for the new Assembly District, including Los Angeles City Councilman John Lee and Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, among others.
About Suzette Martinez Valladares
Suzette grew up in the San Fernando Valley, the granddaughter of a farmworker who worked alongside Cesar Chavez in the vineyards near Bakersfield. She attended the nearby California State University, Northridge. After her mother’s passing in 2018, Suzette was asked to assume her mother’s role as CEO of Little Steps of Faith, a faith-based non-profit preschool that provides quality childcare to underserved families in the San Fernando and Santa Clarity Valleys. Her father still owns and operates a local auto body shop in Pacoima. Suzette and her husband live in Santa Clarita with their daughter.

Established in 1903, Sheet Metal Workers Local 105, resulting from the merger of Local 108 and Local 102, serves the Southern California counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Kern, Inyo, and Mono. Its members are part of the building and construction trades. In shops, they layout, fabricate, and assemble sheet metal products. In the field, they install these sheet metal products in buildings and on construction projects.
