Suzette Valladares is sworn in as Assemblywoman representing AD 38

SACRAMENTO – Assemblywoman Suzette Martinez Valladares took the oath of office today and has immediately started working on behalf of California families and communities. She introduced two bills, AB 90 and AB 91.

\”The voters sent me to Sacramento to get work done,\” Valladares said. \”I\’m here to fight for everyday Californians, and I\’m excited to roll up my sleeves and get to work.\”

Due to the pandemic, today\’s swearing in ceremony was significantly smaller than previous ceremonies. The work ahead of this legislature, however, is greater than ever. Legislators must navigate the pandemic, along with the economic fallout of the Governor\’s stay-at-home orders. Valladares is eager to get to work.

AB 90 protects vulnerable foster youth from identity theft by extending existing credit freeze protections up to 18 years old. According to recent studies, identity theft among foster youth is 38 times higher than it is for California’s general population. AB 91 reduces state license fees for small and micro businesses. The fee reduction will be a welcome reprieve to businesses that have borne the brunt of the economic fallout from the pandemic.
